Dedicated to Quality!

Dr. Ron Zokol graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia in 1974. He started his practice with his father, a certified specialist in Prosthodontics, in Vancouver, Canada where they practiced together for 20 years. In his first 10 years of practice Dr. Zokol attended the University of Washington where he developed his skills in refined gold restorative procedures and then the University of Southern California where he learned the principles of gnathology and occlusion. He started providing restorative procedures on dental implants at the latter part of this period.

In 1983, the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia requested Dr. Zokol stand ready to treat Queen Elizabeth II during her tour of British Columbia and other members of the Royal Family in subsequent years. In the second 10 year period, Dr. Zokol mentored clinical study clubs in prosthodontics with specific application to gold restorations and lectured internationally in this field. During this period, he was elected President of the Vancouver and District Dental Society and later was appointed to chair the General Examination Committee of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia. Shortly after completing this chair position, the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia appointed him as a Chief Examiner for their board examinations. It was early in this period that Dr. Zokol developed his initial training in the surgical phase of oral Implantology. In 1991, Dr. Zokol attended the Misch Implant Institute where he acquired his advanced training in Oral Implantology. In 1992, he was asked by his colleagues to mentor a study club in implant surgery which he continued for six years. In 1993, he was asked to become a clinical surgical instructor for the Misch International Implant Institute in Canada which he continued for over 10 years. Several years later he accepted a clinical surgical instructor position for the Institut Canadien D’implantologie (Canadian Implant Institute) in Quebec. In the third decade of practice, Dr. Zokol founded the Pacific Institute for Implant Dentistry and has lectured internationally in the field of implant surgery and implant prosthodontics. As director of the Pacific Implant Institute, he established a comprehensive 6-day implant prosthetics program which is given in several locations in Canada, the USA and Bermuda. It is during this period that Dr. Zokol received numerous professional awards and formal recognition.

In 1996, Dr. Zokol sat the board examinations of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry and awarded a Diplomate certificate. Other recognitions include being made a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Fellow and Diplomate from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Fellow of the Academy of Dentists International, and Fellow of the American College of Dentists. In 1997, Dr. Zokol was recognized by the American Academy of Gold Foil Operators by being presented with the distinguished award of “Clinician of the Year”. In 2003 as director of the Pacific Implant Institute, Dr. Zokol established the first comprehensive generic, hands-on oral implantology continuing education program in the western region of North America. In 2004, the PII oral implantology training program was enhanced and became recognized by many in the field as one of the most comprehensive implant training programs in the world. Dr. Zokol operates a practice exclusive to implant dentistry in Vancouver, Canada, where he lives with his wife, Marie, and their three sons.
