Mark Rosenbloom, MD
 |
The Unicorn Children Foundation (UCF) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to education, awareness and research on behalf of children with learning and communication disorders, such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), dyslexia and autism.
UCF was founded in 1995 by Mark Rosenbloom, MD and his wife. Louise, shortly after their three year old son was diagnosed with a severe communication disorder. Up until that time, they had been told by numerous professionals that their son, who was not yet speaking, would "grow out of it." But he didn't. |
As a result of one misdiagnosis after another, many months of valuable therapies and intervention were lost. Out of their pain and frustration, and a wish to provide hope for all families with children who suffer from a communication or learning disorder, the Unicorn Children's foundation was born.
The mission of UCF is to affect worldwide change through the coordination of efforts among parents, professionals and policy makers, such that every child with any communication or learning disorder, of any severity, is given the greatest opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential.

In the early 1980's Dr. Borysenko co-founded a Mind/Body clinic with Dr. Benson and Dr. Ilan Kutz, became licensed as a psychologist, and was appointed instructor in medicine at the Harvard Medical School. Her years of clinical experience and research culminated in the 1987 publication of the New York Times best seller, Minding the Body, Mending the Mind, which sold over 400,000 copies. The 20th anniversary edition, newly revised, was published in 2007.
